1. LSIS STEM Support Programme CPD - for 6th form teachers

Are you looking for some high quality subject-focused CPD?  Do you want some new ideas and practical approaches to enhance your teaching of some tricky areas of science? Look no further!

The LSIS STEM Programme has arranged SIX stimulating half day workshops. Day 1 of each session will be held at the College of West Anglia and day 2 at Abbey College, Cambridgeshire.  Details are given on the attached flyer.

Thanks to LSIS STEM funding, these are FREE for all staff from SFA-funded providers. For teachers from schools the fee is only £50 per workshop or £75 for two workshops.

Each workshop will run from 09.30 to 12.30 followed by lunch.  Coffee and Registration from 9am.

2. Triple Science Support programme

We are delighted that the Science Learning Centres are now managing and delivering the next phase of the highly successful Triple Science Support Programme.  Your regional Science Learning Centre can offer advice and guidance on the introduction, implementation and further development of Triple Science, along with a comprehensive package of CPD which will be available from the spring term.  Through the National STEM Centre you will also be able to access extensive support materials, resources and online communities.

Full time; Fixed term contract until 31st December 2012 in the first instance.


Do you have excellent organisational and communication skills and enjoy working effectively with a wide range of people in a science technician role?

We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and knowledgeable person to join a small but dynamic team at the Science Learning Centre for the East of England, also working with the University School of Education.

The tasks will be varied: preparing practical sessions across a range of subjects for teachers and trainee teachers, supporting primary and secondary science up to A level; maintenance and support of equipment; organising materials and displays; advising academic staff on technical issues; working with the rest of the team; being proactive with Health and Safety matters.

The successful applicant will have relevant experience offering technical support in a range of subjects in an educational environment. There will be opportunities for a suitably experienced colleague to become involved in the planning and delivery of Professional Development for other technicians.

The post will be based at the Science Learning Centre on the Bayfordbury Campus of the University, about one mile from Hertford.
