STEM project mentors needed	Years 7-9	From now to 11th July,Wednesdays after school	Shoeburyness High School	The school will be running it's first ever STEM Fair on 11th July 2012. There are a number of students working on projects for the fair who would like some inoput on their activites from STEM Ambassadors.They are currently in the lab and experiement phase of the projects, which is linked to the students getting CREST awards, and further stages include sessions on data analysis and displays. The pupils have thought of the project ideas themselves : How food gets broken down in the body? What is the strongest material? Hybrid plane development ideas Magnets in wheels and motors How the size of an instrument affects the pitch If you could talk to the students even just once it would be really appreciated. Help with silver soldering	6th form	to suit	Hylands, Chelmsford	The school D&T department has a number of 6th formers wishing to make silver jewellery - school has some materials but lacks silver soldering expertise.
CREST Award Support	Ages 11-18	Any time to suit you	Chelmsford County High School for Girls	The school would like Ambassadors to help with 2 things: 1) to watch a presentation about "Energy from Waste" projects and if possible (not essential) comment about how this happens in industry - the pupils have worked towards a Bronze CREST award 2) to come up with some ideas for longer term projects in any subject for silver and gold CREST awards. Support than then stop then or you could work with the students from time to time to assist with the project. Opportunites to assess their work at the end of project also available. Visits for Year 12 science pupils	Ages 17-18	To be arranged	Chafford Hundred School, Thurrock	School is looking for companies to host visits by A'level science students.Very keen school just started to offer A'levels.
Visits to see science labs	Ages 17-18	To suit	Clacton Coastal Academy	Some students in the sixth form study BTEC Level 3 Science and the class teacher would really like to set up some lab visits as for part of their course they have to design a laboratory. Ideally: a) a working lab where research or testing is going b) a University c) a lab in the NHS

If you live or work near any of the schools below then please think about helping out, even a half an hour chat could make a real difference to a student's outlook and careers choices.

Every school we speak to would like Ambassadors to support them in some way, so if you live or work near a school or have children/grandchildren etc. at a school and you'd like to help but maybe don't know what to do, please get in touch as we have lots of ideas and also visit the STEM Networking site for resource ideas.

Help with radio controlled hovercraft	Tabor Science College, Braintree	STEM club, 3.30-4.30pm, Thursdays	Any occasional advice to help with small rc hovercraft.
South Essex area
Ambassador/s with mechanical engineering experience - Gravity Racer project	The Fitzwimarc School, Rayleigh	after school STEM club, any evening except Wednesday to suit Ambassador	School have had all the component parts to build a Gravity Racer for years (see website for details) but need expertise to assist with build and racing. Any Ambassador with an interest in cars would love this challenge!
North Essex area
Southend area
Support for STEM Club KS3 & 4	Chase High School, Prittlewell	Wednesdays at 3pm Occasional or one-off visits ok	School looking to increase interest in science, want any science activities for club of 20 pupils
STEM project development	The Eastwood School, Southend	ASAP to suit	School really wants to run some STEM projects - any Ambassador help would be great!
Ambassadors to speak and possibly be interviewed by students	Westcliff High School for Boys	Thursday lunchtimes (12:45 - 13:45) for approximately half an hour.	Looking for inspirational speakers to talk to students for approximately half an hour., possibly being interviewed as part of STEM Leadership Award.
Thurrock area
