explore Space

Imagine...

  • having a powerful telescope in your own classroomexplore space sml.jpg
  • your pupils taking their own photographs of distant galaxies
  • on-line teaching resources covering all aspects of Earth, Moon and Beyond
  • having a journey through the night sky

Developed in partnership with the Universities of Bradford and Hertfordshire and the Science Learning Centre East, our package of exciting space related programmes can bring these fantastic experiences into your school.

Stop imagining!

The Bradford Robotic Telescope is a University of Bradford not-for-profit programme aimed at bringing amazing images of space to the classroom to inspire young people and teachers about science. The team of scientists and engineers at the University built the first ever robotic telescope for astronomers, based at their observatory in Tenerife, and you can have access to the telescope to take and edit  your own photographs of space.

It doesn't end there; once we have been into your school you can continue to use the on-line resources and telescope for a whole year (and this can be renewed for a small fee). You'll be surprised to find how much it is possible to do with the telescope - with this one resource you can reach right across the curriculum. Images can be used as the starting point for many creative activities. Our range of on-line lessons covers a number of topics from science and maths through to history and creative writing. We will come into school and lead the lesson whilst training you in use of the telescope software so you can continue after we've left. This approach means that your CPD can take place in school whilst enriching key areas of the curriculum.
