What is exploreSTEM?
exploreSTEM is the new STEMPOINT contract holder for STEMNET providing services across Essex, including Southend-on-Sea and Thurrock.
We are team of people who have worked with STEMPOINTS across the region for many years in addtion to developing and delivering our own workshops.
Currently, we offer explore Space workshops where you have the opportunity to use the Bradford Robotic Telescope to capture your own images of the night sky and this can be linked with a portable planetarium.
STEMNET's Vision

What do we do?
Put simply, we want to keep STEM subjects relevant and interesting.
Our aim is to ensure that all young people, schools, and colleges in our area have easy access to STEM curriculum enhancement and enrichment activities and schemes. We do that in a number of ways, including:
- Offering advice and guidance to teachers on schemes available to them
- Facilitating links with contacts or organisations best suited to meeting teachers' specific needs
- Helping organise industry visits and placements for students and teachers

As coordinators of the STEM Ambassadors'
programme on a local level, we also:
- Identify professionals with STEM skills to become STEM Ambassadors
- Link STEM Ambassadors with local schools and colleges to act as role models and help inspire and engage young people about the value of STEM in their daily lives
- Help local STEM employers engage with schools and colleges in their communities.
